How to start a workshop
Rules
Welcome to the St. Louis Poetry Online Workshops. This website provides private online workshops for poets from the Loosely Identified workshops, and friends.
For access to the workshops, please ask a Loosely Identified member or contact the website manager, bjellis at hepatica4u dot com.
Because of the long working history and format of the in-person Loosely Identified workshops, we have opted to follow basically the same ground rules in the on line workshops -- women poets only, focus on positive constructive feedback, and while we'll all benefit from giving and receiving critical feedback please do remain attentive to care of the group as a whole. By that we mean, keep an eye out for the larger group dynamics, and step in and do caretaking in a responsible way if you see it's needed. This is not a free-for-all. This is an effort help us, as unique and individual writers, navigate our personal visions and talents and still collectively keep each other afloat and writing.
That said, this online workshop is a relatively new thing and expect a few bumps as we work the kinks out. The options available on this site are listed horizontally just below the title above. Right now we'll start with a Guestbook (if you have an opinion to express or just want to say hi) and the Forums, where poems are worked on. The Forums are restricted by password to only Looselies and their invited friends. So the membership may be a little broader than the in-person Loosely workshops -- yes, individuals may extend an invite and share the password with friends who share the values described above.
Participation in the long-standing Loosely workshops at the U City Library is NOT a prerequisite for participation in the online workshops. We hope this is a way to extend participation to our members who have, geographically, gone adventuring elsewhere, and also to other women writers who share our values but for various reasons don't want an in-person workshop.
Welcome, and let's get on to poetry....
